Preparing to Ride my Motorcycle around Lake Michigan
Written 7/4/2025.
As fireworks go off around the block, I’m sitting on my bed writing this. I’m in the process of working on what I’m bringing on my motorcycle trip around Lake Michigan. I have 3 friends lined up to visit which I’m excited about. I’m bringing a tent in case I decide to camp. I’ve bought a little camper stove so I can make coffee in the morning. Next is a first aid kit to bring along.
I will pack and put everything in the bike and then ride around to make sure I can handle it and that nothing flies off.
Right now I’m going to head north into Wisconsin to visit a couple of friends. Spend some time in upper Michigan, then across the Mackinaw bridge into Michigan. Visit another friend, then maybe take the ferry to Milwaukee. That way I avoid all the crap that is Gary Indiana, south Chicago, and all of the traffic.
I’ve been saving lists of what to do, so I’ll be a little more detailed as the days wear on. I was going to stop at the Harley-Davidson Museum, but that’s their huge music festival. I’m sure there will be thousands of motorcycles, traffic, etc. Everything that I’m NOT looking to do.
I’ve had a couple people express interest in going with me, but I have decided I’d prefer to do it alone. I need the time and headspace.
Pictures and more coming in the upcoming weeks.
Wish me luck.
Love,
Robert
