Every time someone says that you need to put somebody else first, this quote floats back to me.

The quote about putting serving others before serving yourself is a very Christian thing that I totally disagree with.

I’ve worn myself out by taking care of others first.

I’ve seen people get sick, lose their homes, and not be able to help anyone because they put someone else before their own self-care.

There was a sermon at Calvary Church from a visiting pastor where he hoped that those people who didn’t help others would be ashamed and not be able to sleep that night.

I felt like standing up and shouting, “Fuck You” to him.

There have been times when I was so tapped out (especially during my divorce) that I literally didn’t have the energy to do anything other than sit.

You MUST take care of yourself, mentally, physically, and spiritually in order to have the ability to help others.

So please prioritize your self-care first. If you do, then you’ll be able to take care of others.
