Breakfast in Carlsbad leaves a lot to be desired

I’m at a workshop, staying at a lovely Airbnb. This means that I’m responsible for breakfast.

My objective was not to drive a lot of miles to find someplace to eat, so day one I ended up at Jack in the Box. Blech. Day two I noticed a nice breakfast place next to JINB. I pull up with anticipation of a real breakfast only to have my hopes dashed because it opened at 8 am (it was 7 am). So, it was Taco Bell’s breakfast.

Finally, I went to Wendy’s this morning (where I’m sitting writing this). It was clean, the staff were amazing, breakfast was up in 2 minutes and the food most resembled real food that I’d cook up.

I found it interesting that even Target opens up at 8 am and not earlier. I wonder if it’s because of the high wages that are paid in California or that people just don’t get out until later in the morning (remember that I live in the Midwest - sunrise is when things start happening).

If I come out here next time, I’ll have to do a better job of seeing whether there is a breakfast place that’s open by 7 am.
