Tribe or Not I asked one of my mentors – mentees whether they wanted to continue
Written 2/23/2024.
Remember when I was soooo happy to find my tribe? I’m still happy about it, but one of my mentor/mentee relationships doesn’t seem to be working. We just can’t seem to get together. She’s busy, I’m out of town. Not much flexibility on redoing when we meet.
I sent a text this morning asking whether they wanted to continue the relationship.
I don’t need flighty in my life. I need people who are there and respond in a timely fashion (within a day is perfectly fine). There is enough on my plate that I don’t have the time/bandwidth to cater to a relationship that isn’t working.
Hopefully she’ll get back on the ball and we can be consistent as I value her input into my passion project. She’s a powerful, smart, strong person who knows business and retreats.
Whether we continue or not. I want what’s best for her. I want what’s best for me.
In all cases, life is good. We only manage the process, not the outcomes. As this is the Lenten season, the phrase that speaks to me is “Let Go and Let God.” Let go of the outcome and allow God to work his magic and accept the results.
[Update – she agreed that we should stop the arrangement as she got busy and chooses to not continue to work on the project that we had originally met about. We’ll keep in contact as I want to see her journey and support her in any way I can.
Update on the Update - really no response when I reach out, so I stopped reaching out. It’s all good.]
