The Golden Circle and Visiting a friend’s dad
Written 4/27/2024.
Today was our Golden Circle tour day. I spent $100 worth of gas, bought one diet soda, and one chocolate croissant.
To say it was windy was an understatement. The sky was a brilliant blue with intense sun beating down as it does in winter. It was chilly due to the wind versus the temperature.
We saw the rift between Atlantic and European tectonic plates, a couple geysers, a dairy farm (great ice cream), a tomato farm that had a lovely greenhouse restaurant where we chilled out for the last leg.
The final part was visiting with one of our friend’s dad. He’s a yogi, acupuncturist, herbalist, who has built an amazing Airbnb out of a hay silo. 4 flats with 360 degree views with an upstairs observation center looking outwards. I wanted to check it out for a possible retreat center. It had most of the components, but only has 10 suites and no cooking facilities.
The yogi was amazing, he’s the one who repurposed the silo and also repurposed a big chicken coop into another Airbnb. All rooms include an en-suite bathroom along with a stove and kitchen table.
There is a teaching area in the middle of the repurposed chicken silo that he uses for yoga and teaching others.
All in all, it was a great day, albeit another long day.
Tomorrow is an outlet mall, lunch with another Icelandic friend, and the Sky Lagoon.
