Podcast Interviews and Dinner with the Locals!
Written 4/25/2024.
It’s 1:24 am and I’m on my 18th hour today.
A long day which started with whale watching or, more accurately, sitting on a boat for 3 hours hoping to see a whale. We did get to see dolphins and one dead puffin, so there was that.
Then my hyper type-a kicked in because the boat was late docking, leaving less time that I was comfortable with before the interviews. Personally, I like to spend at least ½ an hour reviewing my notes on each person before the interview. That way it’s fresh in my mind and I can focus more on the person I was interviewing.
All in all, I interviewed four people, a city council member, a famous journalist/documentarian, an entrepreneur, and a musician turned serial entrepreneur.
It was a lot of fun.
We were filming outside on the back deck and in the middle of one interview, our neighbor Ashta (the person we ate dinner with on Tuesday) stopped in the middle of the road, rolled down her window, and called out asking how our whaling expedition went.
We were not expecting that. Everyone was silent, and then we chatted with her.
Just goes to show you how friendly Icelanders can be.
Tonight, we had a late dinner with some of the podcast guests and friends at Fish Market restaurant. Excellent food, excellent company. We laughed, debated, and enjoyed the evening. It was a special time.
From there we drove out to the lighthouse to see if we could catch the northern lights (nope).
All in all, it was a great day.
Tomorrow, we meet with the President of Iceland’s Chief of Staff for a tour and then another photoshoot in downtown Reykjavik. The meet for drinks at the Big Lebowski bar.
How cool is that.
