How a Tuesday turns into a Monday
Written 8/27/2024.
We’ve all had it happen. Usually Mondays are the cluster of the week. Not this time, Tuesday, was. It started with getting to work. The way I usually take had traffic backed up more than half a mile and an ambulance was heading north into that traffic.
I made a hard right onto a side street to go up Naper Blvd instead of Washington street. That was a smart move, but then I cut back to take Washington street north.
That was a bad move.
The City of Naperville, in its infinite wisdom, thought it was a good idea to shut down the right lane from Hobson through downtown. About a mile for one of the major commuting routes.
Instead of waiting until 9 am, they decided to start at 7 at the height of rush hour.
Idiota!
It took a while, but I made it through.
Then there were all of the technical glitches, trying to sign into websites that locked me out, people wanting last minute insurance, clients with problems, while I was trying to get the work I needed done, actually done.
I ended the day around 5:30 pm. It was 97 degrees out and I was driving my 2005 Jeep (now that my daughter is at college, I make sure to take it out at least once a week). The air conditioning isn’t very good, so I ended up with the windows rolled down in stop and go traffic all the way home. Did I also mention that I had to go to Costco to pump up one of the tires which had gotten a little low?
I came home, ate, took a little break, and worked until 9 pm (when I started on my substack stuff).
The glamourous life of an entrepreneur!
I needed to send podcast questions to my guests for Friday’s taping of their interviews.
I also worked on my community, adding an NDA with the terms of service. I’m almost ready to beta test it with my clients. Then I’ll start inviting people to the New Journey Community probably in October.
It’s all fun but takes a lot of time and effort to get things going.
The good news is that I really have taken today in stride. Not getting really upset but rolling with the changes. I take that as progress in my personal life.
