Fefu and Friends
Written 3/1/2024.
I just got back from seeing my daughter in Fefu and Friends. It’s a play that was written in the 70’s set in the 30’s which they set in the 90’s for this version. My daughter played the dramatic Emma.
She did awesome!
The play was fun!
12 hours from Naperville to my daughter’s college (with a stop in between to the local florist for flowers for my daughter – Leon run’s the shop. Great guy).
Rolled in, tried to nap, got up after an hour and hung out with my daughter for a couple hours before she had to eat and get ready.
The show only allowed for 50 audience members due to its unique staging. Act 1 the audience sits in the theatre. Act 2 the audience is invited to rotate between four rooms on the stage. So, you have 4 vignettes you watch. Act 3 we are back in our seats for the ending.
There are several gun shots through the play, none of which actually worked. It was rather amusing and the actors did a great job of improvising. We, the audience, didn’t care. It was fun.
At the end I chatted with the College President. She was newly made the new permanent President and I’m excited to see how she leads the college into the future.
Then I got to give my daughter flowers and chat in the lobby with her and others.
I’m really glad I came. It meant the world to her and me. These are the things which kids will remember.
I just wish I had done more of them earlier.
Not that I can go into the past, but I can change the future which I am trying to do in a positive way.
What have you done lately to make a difference in you you’re your child’s future that they’ll remember for years to come?
