Can You Say Road Trip?
Written 2/29/2024.
It’s 6:36 pm and I’m about to go to bed.
Why? Because I’m getting up at midnight and driving to Sweet Briar Virginia to see my daughter in a play at her college. It’s 12 hours with stops to get there if I push it. As I’m coming off of a cold, I will be taking my time, bringing a sleeping bag and pillows to nap in the car if necessary.
The play is at 7:30 pm, so I built in enough time to take it easy without rushing.
From there, I said “what the heck” and will be driving 6 hours north to visit my son in Pennsylvania for a couple hours.
Then, it will be off to home. I fully expect to stop for the nigh around 11 or 11:30 pm and sleep for a while before continuing my journey.
30 hours on the road, minimum.
Is it worth it?
Yup.
30 years from now I can hear my kids saying, remember when dad drove all the way from Illinois just to see us?
That’s pretty cool. Plus, I really do want to see both of them and the play.
Gotta do it while I can is my motto. You never know what life will throw at you.
What have you been putting off that you need to do now?
