Excited and Buying Food Like A 9-year-old with $100
Written 5/7/2024.
It doesn’t matter how old you get, buying snacks for a road trip should always look like an unsupervised 9-year-old was given $100. – Unknown
Pound of cashews (for my daughter), 2 bags sourdough pretzel nuggets, lemon sandwich cookies from Meijer (they are SOOO good crushed into a strawberry frosty – you’ll thank me for this). I will also make sandwiches, carrot sticks, bring protein drinks and protein bars. I am also baking white chocolate macadamia nut cookies for my cousins (and some for us too).
That covers the food. I also bring a 32 oz thermos of coffee and 2 ½ gallon jug of water for refills of my water bottle.
I love potato chips, but that would have been too much.
I’m a big believer in driving on my stomach and that’s what I intend to do. It’s a twelve hour drive out. Spend the evening, night, morning with my cousins, then off to Sweet Briar to see our daughter and spend the night at the Elston Inn – my favorite hotel. Saturday morning, we will be grabbing the rest of her stuff and driving home. Since there are three of us driving, it should be pretty easy.
My clothes will take up less space than the food. Just a simple backpack.
L will be with the dog sitter. She’s expensive, but good and professional.
How do you prepare for road trips?
